I began my sales career in 2002 as a commission-only insurance salesman with a $500 monthly draw (recoverable, BTW). I had a desk phone, a directory of every contractor in the Chicago-land, sore fingers from cold-calling, and a car that barely got me to my appointments. However, it's this job that taught me the power of out-hustling and out-training other reps.
After 5-yrs. of insurance sales, I hung up the suit and tie, and sought a sales job where I could push my skills to the next level. I kept hustling, and earned a job at the Corporate Executive Board (CEB, now Gartner) which is widely known for The Challenger Sale. At CEB I had the privilege of selling through the Great Recession where I developed a personal "recipe" for success, and learned what it meant to have resiliency during tough times.
For the past decade I've been a individual contributor, and a sales leader in Enterprise Software for some of the world's most successful companies including a wall-street darling, and rocket ship. I've been the top global rep multiple times. I've been rookie of the year in an industry I knew nothing about. I've been promoted. I've built teams, regions, and coached my reps to the top.
I know what it takes to have repeatable success. I know how to out prepare, out work, and out earn the competition. I know what it's like to start at the bottom, but I also know what the view from the top looks like. Most importantly, I know how to transfer these skills and mindset to you!
Before my sales career kicked off, I was a 4X varsity wrestler at the University of Michigan (3X All-Big Ten, 3X NCAA Qualifier), and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. I was a high school All-American, and was inducted into the IL Coaches and Officials Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2018. I am the author of How To Become A State Champion Wrestler. I am a youth wrestling coach.
In my personal time, I trail run, mountain, bike, fly fish, snowboard, and more. I've completed 100+mile trail running races, crewed and paced others to the finish line in their own 100 mile+ races, and completed 24hr+ multi-sport adventure races.
I love Podcasts and insightful books (see my Resources page).
I have an incredibly talented and supportive wife, and together we raise three extraordinary kids.
The Mountains of Colorado is where I call home.
Someone has to be the best, why not you? My dad was told this this an influential leader during his military days, and he passed the gift to me.
This motto underpins my point of view on sales, athletics, and personal life. However, "the best" does not need to mean #1 on the Leader Board. It is about becoming the best version of yourself

In the words of the late Dr. Robert Schueller, "starting is half way there." Don't wait. Get started today, and get half way to the top with me as your coach.
